WiMAX Development in Asia May 3-9

Vietnam's MoIC (Ministry of Industry and
Communications) has awarded a license to Indochina Telecom for WiMAX network
deployment and service operation in Vietnam, according to a May 6 VietNamNet
Bridge report. Indochina Telecom has thus become the tenth licensed company to
test WiMAX in Vietnam, following in the footsteps of companies such as VNPT,
Viettel, VTC, FPT Telecom, CMC, and EVN Telecom. Although WiMAX trial runs are
currently underway in some Vietnamese cities, no commercial services have been
rolled out yet, according to the VietNamNet Bridge report.
